In the heart of Downtown Kansas City, our brand-new corporate offices have opened its doors—a culmination of years of planning and anticipation. The new office was designed to foster collaboration and growth, making it the perfect backdrop for our full week of company-wide festivities. Keep reading to learn about the inaugural events and exciting features of our new space. Welcome to the new Dickinson Financial Corporation offices, proud home of Academy Bank and Armed Forces Bank.
Monday, October 13th — We had a ‘premier’ surprise for our associates. When they walked into our new office, they were greeted by cheering co-workers, movie theater popcorn, and a chance to walk down the red carpet. Our associates also enjoyed exploring our new home and discovering the new amenities and features. But it didn’t stop there! Later that day, our welcoming committee rolled through the office with a cart of popsicles from our friends at Palacana. We had all sorts of flavors, from the classic chocolate and strawberry to more unique flavors like pecan and cotton candy.
Tuesday, October 14th — New offices, new swag. Our associates received brand-new gear, including vests or computer backpacks. When they arrived at their desks in the morning, everyone was greeted with the special items along with some tasty treats.
Wednesday, October 15th — Time for a quick sugar break! Our welcoming committee served boxes of Crumbl cookies and locally-sourced jars of Shatto Milk. On all three levels of our corporate offices, associates had their pick of cookie flavors including birthday cake, red velvet, classic sugar, and chocolate chip…just to name a few.
Thursday, October 16th — Breakfast, anyone? Our welcoming committee pulled out all the stops with an impressive breakfast spread. Associates enjoyed Danishes, bagels, croissants, muffins, and more—the breakfast of champions! With yummy breakfast treats, our team members were able to conquer the day!
Friday, October 17th — Fueling success with good food and great company. In our brand-new kitchen overlooking downtown Kansas City, Hog Wild Pit Bar-B-Q laid out a massive lunch with all the fixin’s for our entire corporate team.
Additionally, throughout the week, our teams were surprised with special cameo videos on social media, including messages from Almost Andy Reid, Joel Goldberg, and Noah Gray, each wishing our associates congratulations on the milestone.
We’re finally settling in our new corporate offices, a move that’s been in the works for years. This space reflects our commitment to innovation and collaboration, and we’re thrilled with the open layout, which is designed to enhance visibility and teamwork.
A standout feature is our open lobby and large staircase connecting our floors, creating an inviting space for associates to engage and explore. Other communal areas include a lounge, game room, café, and multiple huddle spaces geared for both virtual and in-person interactions.
The collaboration opportunities continue. Our home now boasts thirteen new conference rooms, each named after elements tying us to the community and the Dickinson family's legacy. On the 10th floor, the conference rooms honor significant projects supported by the Dickinson Family Foundation and the Banks. Meanwhile, the 11th floor pays homage to three Missouri towns integral to the Dickinson family history: Chillicothe, Keytesville, and Hannibal. Finally, the 12th floor conference rooms celebrate iconic Kansas City arts and culture landmarks that contribute to the city's livability and vitality.
What sets our office apart is the seamless integration of DFC's rich history coupled with a fresh, innovative feel—a perfect blend of old and new. The contemporary spaces have a subtle mix of traditional elements, including paintings from the Dickinson family’s fine arts collection, which bridges the bank's heritage with its forward-thinking future.
As we settle into this new space, it will house three custom art installations honoring our associates, founders, and the enduring legacy of banking. Soon, the building will also display a large Academy Bank sign, greeting drivers on I-70 as they head downtown.
On behalf of Dickinson Financial Corporation, Academy Bank, and Armed Forces Bank, we are thrilled to call this new location our home. Thank you to the Dickinson family for investing in our associates and providing our organization with this beautiful, new office space.
We would also like to thank our associates on the Move Committee who assisted with this relocation, and a special shout out to our IT, Human Resources, Experience, and Executive teams. They worked tirelessly to make everything happen, and we are grateful for their hard work!
Here’s to enhanced collaboration—when we know each other better, it’s easier to provide a superior banking experience to our clients and communities.
